This course is designed to increase your understanding of, and full compliance with Regulation 170 within the Education and Care Services National Regulations. By providing you with practical skills and comprehensive knowledge for all service environments, you will learn how to implement policies and procedures with this Regulation 170 as the focus. You will also gain a thorough understanding of how to effectively implement policies to inform practice, and also understand the legislative roles and responsibilities of the Persons with Management or Control (PMC’s).


This course is designed to increase your understanding of risk literacy and risk thresholds in education and care settings, through providing insights into the legal and ethical responsibilities of PMCs, and how to embed and influence practices within the team. Explore the basic principles of risk assessment, and how to apply risk management strategies in diverse settings. Explore critical thinking skills, analyse and develop proficiency in adapting risk assessments to various service types and environments.   



This course is designed to explore the relevant Regulations and laws in regards to health and safety within service environments. You will unpack and explore practical examples in managing risk, responding to incidents and safeguarding children from harm and hazards. The course will provide strategies for best practice in relation to safe environments, and ways to prevent risk of harm as a whole service approach. You will also discover health and safety considerations directly relating to child-safe environments, and how to manage these risks and incidents on an ongoing basis.
